Strength training describes all forms of exercise that aim to improve strength, ie the body becomes able to push, pull or hold steady against greater force than it could prior to the training program.
Conditioning generally refers to cardiovascular training, i.e. improving the efficiency, endurance and effectiveness of the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels to enable oxygen delivery to tissues like muscles. Oxygen is required for aerobic metabolism, which is the body’s way of producing energy for endurance activities such as running, cycling or swimming.
